Solo / SB / Grade 3

This fast-paced polka (it’s almost a two-step) starts in A Major, but has sections also in D Major and E Major, before returning to A major in the final section. It is a brisk, happy piece, which involves the combination of smooth phrasing and staccato, as well as triplets on the treble keyboard, with important accenting throughout. The basses provide rhythmic accompaniment and are thus uncomplicated, although there are many chord changes. It is designed to teach the player about the importance of correct fingering in order to achieve the feeling of flow, rhythm and efficiency.
