Solo / SB / Grade 4
This piece is unusual in that its bass accompaniment and rhythmic feel is provided almost entirely by bass chords (either separately or two chords together) rather than the usual fundamental bass/chord structure. Meanwhile, the treble theme is a clearly stated dance lasting 10 bars, which is followed by several further motifs based on the opening notes in the first bar of the piece. Thirds in the treble then lead the piece into a more playful mode, which continues to the end of the section, before following the dal segno signs. The whole piece is based around the key signatures of Eb major and Bb minor. It is ideally suited to Stradella bass instruments.
