Written in F major, this joyful vamp-like composition has an 8-bar introduction – with syncopated treble chords with semi-sustained bass notes – followed by an eight-bar theme in the treble that is repeated but modified and extended, with much detailed phrasing and accenting. This is then repeated, and at the end of the section, a jazzy treble chord spread announces the next section – a syncopated, Gypsy-like hummable 16-bar melody in D minor (reminiscent of Django Reinhardt, Stéphane Grappelli and the Quintette du Hot Club de France). This swings along nicely before ending in a key change via a C7 treble chord. The main theme is then repeated before the composition ends with a one-octave treble glissando, with a few hidden surprises along the way.
