Apricot One
This tuneful little piece for the beginner is written in C major, in 3/4 time, it spans the first five notes of the major scale and introduces minims and crochets. The basses consist of the three major chords of C, F, and G. It is just 20 bars long, and ends with a C major chord. It includes some staccato notes and limited phrases and dynamics, and is ideally suited to Stradella (standard) bass instruments without a counter bass row for the left hand.
Apricot Two
Written in 4/4 time in C major for beginners, this piece has a march-like melody (all notes are within a five-note range – C and G), and is just 20 bars long. It has a four-bar introduction, which sets up the timing. The treble includes regular notes (some played staccato, and some played within a legato phrase). The treble ending is a two-note chord. There are just three chords (C major, F major, and G major). Only simple dynamic markings are provided as a guideline. It is ideally suited to Stradella (standard) bass instruments without a counter bass row for the left hand.
