Solo / SB / Grade 2

Written in C Major, this elementary piece starts unusually with a bass solo motif. The main treble theme consists of groups of semiquavers and a five-note theme within a six-tone range, although a full octave range is used occasionally. In the second section, the basses have more emphasis, while the treble features sustained notes. Dynamic markings introduce the use of the musical terms ritardando (rit.) and fermata (hold). The final four bars include sustained treble notes, accompanied by uncomplicated basses and chords.
